એક પ્રાથમિક શાળામાં
૪ થી ૮ વર્ષનાં બાળકોને
'પ્રેમ કોને કહેવાય ?'
એવા સવાલનો જવાબ આપવાનું કહેવામાં આવ્યું
ત્યારે આટલાં નાનાં બાળકોએ
જે જવાબો આપ્યા
તે અચંબો પમાડે તેવા હતા.
એમાંના
ઘણાં બાળકોના
જવાબો પરથી તો
એ ટબૂડિયાઓને
પ્રેમ શબ્દની સમજણ
મોટા માણસો કરતા પણ વધારે પડે છે એવું જ લાગે !
તો એમની ભાષામાં જ
એ જવાબો જોઈએ :

મારા દાદીને
સાંધાનો વા થયેલો છે.
એ વાંકા નથી વળી શકતા
એટલે એમના પગના નખ કાપવાનું તેમ જ રંગી આપવાનું કામ
મારા દાદા
પોતાને હાથના સાંધા દુ:ખતા હોવા છતાં
નિયમિત કરી આપે છે,
એને પ્રેમ કહેવાય !

હવે એક નાનકડી વાત.

પડોશમાં રહેતા

દાદી ગુજરી ગયા
ત્યારે ચાર જ વરસનો
એક નાનકડો બાળક દાદાને મળવા ગયો
એકાદ કલાક પછી
એ પાછો ઘેર આવ્યો
ત્યારે એની મમ્મીએ પૂછ્યું કે,
'બેટા !
તેં વળી દાદાને શું કહ્યું ?'
'કંઈ નહીં મમ્મી !'
બાળકે જવાબ આપ્યો,
'એમના ખોળામાં બેસી
મેં એમને રડવામાં મદદ કરી !'
બસ,
આ જ પ્રેમ...
